Other Information

The city of Rio Grande is slightly above sea level.

Some areas of town are practically at sea level.

The highest urban area is on General Bacelar Street, between Andradas street and Zalony Street, at the Historical Center, two meters above sea level.

The dunes are naturally not included in these calculations. These are usually higher than five meters and are located on the coastal plains, stabilized by vegetation.

Situated south of Tropic of Capricorn, the territory of the city is influenced by mild temperate climatic conditions, under strong oceanic influence (subtropical sea climate).

The seasons are well-defined, with good sunlight and evaporation, which guarantees good homogeneous rainfall. The combination of proximity to the sea and low lands impose a “super humid” climatic regimen, with frequent condensation and precipitation.

Temperatures range from 17 to 32º C in summer, and from 6 to 17ºC in winter.
