Social Responsibility

Tecon Rio Grande has a relationship principally with the community of Rio Grande in general, and has as its goal constantly giving help to:  neighborhoods that are far from the city center, needy people, sponsor athletes, social and environmental projects of the city, since it has its problems and needs of infrastructure, financial resources, and social inequalities. All this help has a strong repercussion in our community, since we are always supporting all the opportunities for action.

Throughout our company trash bins are spread around, where trash is separated according to its type, counting on all the company’s employees who have already been made aware that they should throw the trash in the appropriate place. The company has a partnership with ASCALIXO ( Associação dos Catadores de Lixo da Cidade do Rio Grande, or Trash Collector’s  Association of  the City of Rio Grande), which removes the recyclable trash and with APAE, where work for improving the facilities and the environment are developed according to the identification of the needs which is done annually by the Commercial Department.

Tecon Rio Grande annually provides the employees’ children, who are up to 12 years old, an afternoon for celebrating Children’s Day. On that day, besides the goodies that are offered for the kids to eat, recreational activities  with inflatable toys and children’s characters are offered. In 2004, as well as putting on this party,  Tecon’s employees participated as volunteers for the October 12 (Children’s Day) activities that were offered to the 4 orphanages in the city, where 100 children participated. The activity endures until these days.

Still thinking about the integration between the family and the company, a celebrative dance is held in December with the participation of the employee and his / her companion, with artistic presentations and a band, as well as a retrospective presentation given by the CEO.

Another social activity in which the company participated was that of taking students from the city’s municipal education system to get to know the Taim Ecological Reserve. Tecon made it viable for around 130 students to have transportation on November 27 and December 9. The visit is a continuation of the project that was begun in 2002 with a donation of 1000 calendars with the theme of “Taim, a reserve of life”. By means of this partnership between Tecon and the Municipal Education and Culture Ministry (SMEC, or Secretaria Municipal de Educação e Cultura ), children had the opportunity to observe the natural beauty of our reserve. The proposal is included in the “I Love Rio Grande”  project of the City Hall of Rio Grande, with which we always cooperate.

We have commitment with social responsibility of the city of Rio Grande. This is a company that is marked by a continuous search for solutions for maintaining commitment to modernity of the port, and being certain that this is only the beginning. These results make it so that the company and the community grow together naturally. The return in the regional economy in terms of social duties, taxes, benefits, training, safety, security, and labor medicine grow every year, positively ratifying the implantation of our project as a terminal, based on the quality that we have always sought in providing our services.

Being committed to our community, Tecon Rio Grande is present in the projects and plans of several institutions and local entities that operate in supporting people, and equally important, in cultural, sports, and academic projects, which are fundamental for the development of society, and are also the focus of operation in several outstanding events in our region.

The company’s social performance confirms that we are on the right track and that we will keep on sharing our success and our results with society.
